Government Employees Retirement Age

Government employees retirement age

Every government employee is eligible to attain retirement i.e. relaxation from his/her work in service tenure after a certain period of time with government benefits like state pension etc. Our constitution has made the amendments related to retirement age liberal for both Indian government as well as state governments under the Ministry of Personnel, Public grievances & Pensions. So the relaxation of retired age policies can be done by state governments with their respective states.

Various news regarding Government employees' retirement age has flashed in recent times. No one state follows the same policies as each of the state made their own amendments related to Government employees the retirement age.

Many more debates and rumors skyrocketed over Government employees' retirement age under 7th pay commission rule that mostly raised illogical statements & debates by establishing an amendment that tends to decrease 2 years i.e. from 60 to 58 years. With instance, 5th pay of commission rule came into force under NDA rule (political alliance led by BJP party) with reference to retirement age by stating 2 aspects, one is increase of age limit over 2 years & the another one is that every government employee must stay in service until he/she reaches 60 years of age. However, it raises several queries & misinterpretations.

Government Employees Retirement Age foe example calculation:
For example, To have a clear understanding about Government employees' retirement age, let’s have a practical situation. If person ‘A’ joined the government services at the age of 25, his service experience would be 35 years when he reaches 60 years of age. Simultaneously, if another person ‘B’ joined the government services at the age of 23, his service experience would be 37 years when he reaches 60 years of age. Where, person B is serving 2 more years than person A has committed no profound knowledge with this aspect.

However, again the 7th pay commission rule has come into existence by defeating all those rumors & fake news. Then it introduced 2 specific clauses - where a person must attain 60 years of age (or) he/she must have 33 years of work experience to be eligible for retirement.

According to the above clauses, several departments under central government were confined to different retirement ages with respect to their fields/ service.
