Our Story
REFERENCE ARCHITECTURE

Smart City ITMS.
Intelligent Traffic Management System.

For: Government / Smart City SPV / Municipal Corporation

End-to-end edge AI architecture for Intelligent Traffic Management across 50–200 intersections — ANPR, adaptive signal control, incident detection, and city-wide analytics dashboard. Designed for Smart City Mission and AMRUT deployments.

Architecture Overview

Smart City ITMS — System Architecture

A three-tier edge AI architecture that brings real-time traffic intelligence to every junction without cloud dependency. Edge nodes at each intersection perform ANPR, vehicle classification, and signal violation detection. Zone hubs aggregate data for corridor-level optimisation. A central command server provides the city-wide dashboard, historical analytics, and integration with the existing SCADA/ATCS infrastructure.

Network Topology

How the tiers connect

Tier 1 — Junction Edge

Each intersection runs a Hailo-8 edge node processing 2–4 camera feeds in real-time. ANPR results, violation alerts, and traffic counts are generated locally and pushed to the zone hub via 4G/5G. No video leaves the junction — only metadata and alerts.

Tier 2 — Zone Aggregation

Zone hubs (1 per 10–20 junctions) aggregate metadata from edge nodes, run corridor-level optimisation algorithms, and generate adaptive signal timing recommendations. Connected to the central server via fibre/leased line.

Tier 3 — Central Command

The central server runs the city-wide dashboard with live traffic heatmaps, historical trend analysis, incident replay, and integration with SCADA/ATCS for automated signal plan updates. Dual-server HA configuration ensures 99.9% uptime.
