The Dress Allowance will be directly credited to employees' salaries once a year in July.
The allowance only covers basic uniforms. The respective Ministry will still provide special clothing for specific conditions.
All uniform maintenance and washing allowances are now combined into the Dress Allowance and will not be paid separately.
Employees in certain categories who were previously provided uniforms will no longer receive them.
Outfit Allowance for Indian Foreign Service officers and employees will continue with a 50% increase.
The Dress Allowance rates will increase by 25% for every 50% increase in the Dearness Allowance.
Various Ministries will issue separate orders for their respective employees.

The personnel in the mentioned category are eligible for Dress Allowance if they meet the following criteria:
They must wear a specific daily uniform as part of their duty, as per the Ministry of Railways' Dress Regulations, excluding any special clothing.
Employees may have uniform material and associated allowances (like Uniform Allowance, Washing Allowance, Kit Maintenance Allowance, Shoe Allowance, etc.) before 1st July 2017.
They stopped receiving the above uniform material and allowances from the issuance.

Each time the rates of Dress Allowance will increase by 25% and then Dearness Allowance increases by 50%.
