Powering India Cyber Defence Command Centre: 50 RDP Workstations for CERT-In

CERT-In deployed 50 RDP Xeon workstations with NVIDIA Quadro RTX 4000 for cybersecurity operations at New Delhi.

Fifty workstations. One mission: protecting India’s digital infrastructure. When the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) — the national nodal agency for cybersecurity under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) — needed to equip its analysts with dependable, high-performance computing, it turned to RDP.

CERT-In does not run a typical office. Its analysts simultaneously operate SIEM dashboards, threat intelligence platforms, digital forensics tools, and multi-monitor coordination panels — often during active incident response. The hardware cannot be the bottleneck. RDP delivered 50 purpose-configured Xeon workstations with NVIDIA Quadro RTX 4000 professional GPUs, designed for exactly this operating environment.

The Client: India’s Cyber Defence Command Centre

CERT-In is established under Section 70B of the Information Technology Act, 2000. Operating from 6, CGO Complex, Lodhi Road, New Delhi, it is India’s designated authority for cybersecurity incident response, threat intelligence, vulnerability management, and cyber crisis coordination — protecting government systems, critical infrastructure, financial networks, and the broader digital ecosystem.

The operational demands are distinct from standard enterprise computing. CERT-In analysts routinely run 8-12 applications simultaneously — SIEM dashboards, threat intelligence portals, browser tabs with CVE feeds, forensics tools, email, and documentation. They work across multiple displays, correlating data from different sources in real time. The hardware must deliver sustained multi-application performance without thermal throttling, memory pressure, or GPU contention.

The Requirement: Workstations Built for Cyber Operations

CERT-In’s procurement mandate specified four non-negotiable requirements:

  1. Multi-application concurrency. Analysts cannot close one tool to open another during an active incident. The workstation must run a full security operations stack — SIEM, forensics, intelligence feeds, communication tools — simultaneously without performance degradation.
  2. Professional multi-monitor support. Cybersecurity operations require visual real estate. The GPU must drive multiple 1080p displays with certified driver stability for sustained 24×7 operation — not consumer-grade graphics that throttle under load.
  3. Data integrity and security. ECC memory for error-free operations. On-premises storage for sensitive data. TPM 2.0 for hardware-level security. Genuine licensed OS for audit compliance.
  4. Make in India compliance. Government procurement through GeM, aligned with MeitY norms and Atmanirbhar Bharat objectives.

The Solution: RDP Xeon Workstation with Quadro RTX 4000

RDP supplied 50 identical, specification-controlled workstations — each unit engineered, assembled, quality-validated, and supported under the RDP OEM umbrella at its 28,000 sq. ft. Hyderabad facility.

Every component serves the mission. The Intel Xeon Silver 4210R provides 10 physical cores and 20 threads on a server-class C621 platform — the same chipset family found in enterprise rack servers. This gives CERT-In analysts workstation hardware with server-grade reliability: PCIe Gen3 bandwidth, ECC memory support, and robust I/O throughput that consumer desktop platforms cannot match.

The NVIDIA Quadro RTX 4000 is engineered for sustained multi-display professional workloads — unlike consumer GPUs that throttle under continuous load. CERT-In analysts drive multiple 24-inch FHD displays simultaneously: one showing live SIEM alerts, another tracking threat maps, a third running coordination portals. The Quadro handles this without GPU memory contention or driver instability.

The dual-storage architecture is deliberate. The 1 TB NVMe SSD delivers 3,000-3,500 MB/s read speeds for instant OS boot, rapid application launch, and fast forensic image loading. The 2 TB HDD provides high-capacity local storage for case archives, malware sample libraries, threat intelligence databases, and historical incident records — keeping sensitive data on-premises and secure.

32 GB of ECC RAM silently detects and corrects single-bit memory errors in real time. For a cybersecurity agency where data accuracy during forensic analysis, malware reverse engineering, and incident correlation is non-negotiable, ECC provides a layer of hardware reliability that standard consumer workstations do not offer.

Why RDP for National Cybersecurity Infrastructure

CERT-In’s hardware vendor selection is not a routine procurement decision. This is the agency that coordinates India’s response to cyber incidents targeting government networks, financial systems, and critical infrastructure. The hardware partner must meet a higher bar.

Make in India at the security level. Every workstation was manufactured at RDP’s Hyderabad facility — no import dependencies, no foreign supply chain risks, full alignment with Atmanirbhar Bharat and MeitY procurement norms. For a cybersecurity agency, hardware provenance matters.

Fleet standardisation. Fifty identical workstations mean one OS image, one driver set, one hardware configuration across the entire CERT-In deployment. When the IT team needs to push a security patch, deploy a new forensics tool, or troubleshoot a configuration issue, they work with one baseline — not fifty variations.

Genuine, audit-compliant software stack. Pre-installed Windows 10 Pro (genuine OEM) and MS Office Home and Business 2019 ensure CERT-In’s fleet operates on fully licensed, government-compliant software — supporting BitLocker encryption, Group Policy management, and compatibility with all MeitY-approved security applications.

The Outcome

OutcomeImpact
Analyst productivity8-12 concurrent applications without performance degradation
Multi-monitor operationsProfessional GPU driving multiple FHD displays for SOC workflows
Data integrityECC memory ensuring error-free forensic analysis and incident correlation
Security complianceTPM 2.0, genuine OS, licensed software stack across all 50 units
Fleet managementSingle hardware baseline for streamlined IT administration
Make in India100% domestically manufactured, GeM-procured, MeitY-aligned

The deployment equipped CERT-In with workstation infrastructure purpose-built for the demands of national cybersecurity operations. When India’s cyber defence analysts are responding to an active threat, the hardware performs — silently, reliably, continuously.

Trusted at the Highest Level

RDP is proud to be a preferred Make in India OEM trusted by one of India’s most security-conscious institutions. This deployment joins a growing roster of government and defence customers — including state government PACS digitisation and state digital mission IT infrastructure — where RDP’s domestic manufacturing, institutional delivery capability, and long-term support commitment make the difference.
